Aluminum Marine Sheet 5000 Series

The rapid development of science and technology has brought many conveniences to people's lives. As a water tool, ships have existed since ancient times. In order to adapt to the fast-paced and efficient modern life, the structure and material selection of ships are constantly updated and iterated to keep pace with the times. Aluminum marine sheet alloy has the characteristics of small specific gravity and elastic modulus, corrosion resistance, weldability, easy processing, non-magnetic and good low-temperature performance. Now it is widely used in ship construction. Commonly used alloys for marine aluminum sheet include 5052 aluminum sheet, 5083 aluminum plate and 5086 aluminum plate. However, there are also many requirements for the selection of marine aluminum sheet alloys.

Marine aluminum sheet alloy requires excellent corrosion resistance

Ship structures are mostly used in harsh seawater media and marine environments, so whether aluminum sheet alloys are corrosion resistant is one of the main signs that determine whether they can be used as marine aluminum alloys. Generally, marine aluminum sheet alloy substrates and welded joints are required to have no stress corrosion, spalling corrosion, and intergranular corrosion tendency in seawater and marine environments, try to avoid contact corrosion, crevice corrosion, and marine adhesion corrosion, allow smaller uniform corrosion and spots corrosion.

Marine aluminum alloy sheet require good cold and hot forming properties

Ships undergo cold processing (such as hemming, hemming, roll bending, stamping, etc.) and thermal processing (such as hot bending, pyrotechnics, etc.) during the construction process. Therefore, it is required that the aluminum marine sheet alloy is easy to be processed and formed, does not produce defects such as cracks during processing, and can still meet the performance requirements such as strength and corrosion resistance after processing.
